Display a field conditionally

Create conditional fields that only appear when certain response conditions are met.

Last updated : June 24, 2026

Create conditional fields that only display when certain response conditions are met. For example, a "VAT Number" field that only appears if "Status" = Company or Self-employed.

Go to Purchase Journey → Custom Fields from your event menu.

Configure a condition

  1. Open an existing field or create a new one

  2. Locate the toggle Display under condition (orange icon)

  3. Activate the toggle. A panel appears with:

  4. Display this field if → select the trigger field (the question whose answer drives the display)

  5. Operator → choose the condition (is, is not, contains, etc.)

  6. Value → enter the expected value

  7. Save

The trigger field is chosen only once. Changing the trigger field resets the conditions.

Available operators

The proposed operator depends on the type of the trigger field:

  • Single choice / Selection → is, is not

  • Multiple choice → contains, does not contain

  • Short text / Text field → contains, is empty, is filled

  • Formatted field (number) → is, is not, greater than, greater than or equal to, less than, less than or equal to

  • Formatted field (email / phone / date) → contains, is empty, is filled

  • Additional condition (checkbox) → is checked, is not checked

The operators "is empty", "is filled", "is checked" and "is not checked" do not require a value.

Multiple conditions

You can add multiple conditions on the same trigger field via the + Add a condition button. A connector appears between conditions:

  • AND → all conditions must be met

  • OR → at least one condition must be met

All conditions apply to the same trigger field.

Visual reading

In your field list, a conditional field appears indented under the field it depends on, with an orange badge. Hovering over the badge displays a tooltip summarizing the applied rule.

Clicking on the badge directly opens the field configuration. Fields can be reordered by drag-and-drop. Moving a "parent" field moves its entire group.

Troubleshooting

  • I don't see my other question in the list → it already depends on this field (no loop possible) or it's the field itself

  • My field has moved → it has been automatically repositioned under its trigger field, this is normal

  • I can't add a condition → the previous condition is incomplete, or all options are already used

  • How to remove the condition? → deactivate the "Display under condition" toggle. Settings are saved if you reactivate it

  • What happens if I delete a trigger field? → a window will prompt you to also delete dependent fields or keep them by removing the condition
